 2023 Preview 


       Colbert County completed the 2022 season with a 7-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region eight, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Colbert County reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Piedmont by a score of 42-20.

       Since 2010, Colbert County has gone a combined 94-60. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Colbert County has finished a combined 208-102. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class 3A and 55th in the AHSAA. The Indians have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time.




       The Indians are led by head coach Scotty Hannah who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-5 record in his first season at Colbert County. The Indians saw improvement from a 6-5 record the season before coach Hannah arrived. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hannah.

       The Indians have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region eight this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2011 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2023.

       The Indians open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Brooks on Thursday, August 24 at E.D. Redding Stadium. Last year the Brooks Lions finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in fifth place in Class 4A region seven. The Lions ended last season on a positive note with a win over Lauderdale County by a score of 28-7 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Colbert County and Brooks have met a total of 15 times on the football field. The Indians have a 10-5-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2022 with Brooks winning by a score of 48-21.
